The parish records of Townstall and Dartmouth, Devon, have the baptisms of six ch. 1613-1624 of John and Jane (Whiting) Amerideth, m. 7 Jan. 1614. John, bap. 26 Nov. 1615, was here by 1647. Jury 1669, Grand jury 1670. Will 26 Jan. - 16 June 1691. Wife Joanna Treworgye, dau. of James and Catherine (Shapleigh), was a licensed retailer after her husband's death. Ch. John, d.s.p. Joanna, m. John Alcock. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2 June 1669, to John Ameredeth and John ffenix twenty-four acres near Eagle Point, thirty-five rods by the water side, adjoining Robert Cutt's headline, "along ye sd headline to ye water side upon a northwest and southeast line." John Ameredeth died 26 Jan. 1690, leaving widow, Joan, and daughter, Joanna, who had married John Alcock. [ref 33:74,81] John Tucker, fisherman, of the Isles of Shoals, died in 1670 and left all his property to John Ameredeth and wife Joanna. Lawsuit in Dover Court in 1648. He married Joanna, dau. of James Treworgy. He d. 26 Jan. 1690-1; beq. estate in England. to wife Joane for her life afterward to go to son and dau. John and Joanna Alcock, then to their ch. Joseph and Joanna Alcock; land in Kittery to same, then to gr. ch. Joseph and Joanna Alcock; money to be paid by "cozen" John shapleigh to gr. ch. Abigail and Mary Alcock. [ref 44:4] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WILL OF JOHN AMERIDETH, 26 Jan 1690: The last Will & testament of John Amerideth Coop late of Dartmouth in England & Now of Kittery in the province of Maine in New England, being Weake of boyd but of perfect Memory & of a disposeing mind Doe ordaine this as my last Will revoake all former Wills & bequests whatsoever think meett to sett my house in order & Dispose of that Estate as god has giuen me as folluweth Impr: I bequeath my soule to god that gaue it me in hopes of a Glorious resurection & my body to be Decently buried It: That estate I have in Dartmouth abouesaid of housen & Gardens I giue and bequeath the Moietie or one half to my beloved wife Joane Amerideth Dureing her Naturall life & the other halfe vnto my sone & Daughter John & Joanna Alcock and their heirs for ever: & after my said viues decease the whole to be and remaine to sd sone and daughter for ever; It: I giue & bequeath to my sd Wife the one halfe of the house and land I now liue vppon Dureing her Naturall life and after her Decease the whole Vnto my Sone & Daughter John and Joana Alcock Dureing their Naturall liues & the longest liver of them and after their Decease to be and remaine to Joseph & Joanna the Children of the sd Jno And Joanna aforesd: & twelue acres of land in broad Coue vnto Joann last above namesd It: I giue & bequeath the rest of my Estate in Chattells & Cattell within Dores and without Dores vnto my beloued wife Joane hopeing shee Will be provident so of it that shee may leaue to my Children what remaines at her decease appointing & makeing my sd Wife my sole Executrix and Elias Stileman & John Shapleigh my ouer seers in Witness whereof I haue here vnto set my hand & seale the 26 January 1690: John (his mark) Amerideth Sworn to by Richard King and William Tetherly 16 June 1691; recorded 24 June 1691; Inventory returned at �152:12:0, by Peter Dixon and William Godsoe, appraisers, June 16, 1691, who recite that John Amerideth deceased 26 Jany 1690. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | ||||||||||
