May 5, 1702, Susanna, dau. of Hopestill and Susanna (Swift) Clapp, b. in Dorchester, Mass., Dec. 23, 1673; is mentioned in her father's will, Sept. 2, 1719. She d. May. 23, 1730, aged 56. He m. (2) Nov. 26, 1730, Ann, dau. of John and Mary (Lang-Smith) Atwood of Boston, Mass.; she d. June 9, 1748, aged 51; he m. (3) Dec. 1, 1748, Sarah Porter, who is mentioned in his will. Nathaniel was a leather dresser in Boston, and served as a clerk of the market, 1720; sealer of leather, 1725 and 1731-54, inclusive (except 1733-4 and 1738); was first sergeant of the artillery company, 1728.
