Jonathan, Kittery, son of Robert and Mary Mendum; only ch. named in fa.'s will, giving him (also exec.) the homestead for life, then to his younger sons David and Jonathan. He wit. with fa. 4 Apr. 1664; in 1673 he and John Shepard ack. a joint debt to Eliskim Hutchinson. Gr.j. 1688. He m. bef. 2 Mar. 1672 Mary Raynes who was John Woodman's w. by Aug. 1693. Adm. to Woodman on his est. 3 Oct. 1699. Ch., the 1st three (minors) named in gr.fa.'s will 1682: Robert, Jonathan, David, Nathaniel, Dorothy. [ref 22]

Jonathan Mendum, son of Robert, is first mentioned in 1672 and is the only son named in Robert's will; had wife Mary. Children: Elizabeth, Jonathan, Robert, Nathaniel, David, Dorothy. [ref 33:605]

18 May 1682 fathers will: "My house wrin I now dwell, with all the houseing, & land belonging yrunto, & all the priuiledges apprtajneing, I giue to my sonn Jonathan Mendum for his vse, dureing his life, & after his decease, to his two younger sons, Jonathan & Dauid Mendum, to bee �qually deuided between them, & If either of them dy before they Come to age the Suruiuer shall haue ye whoole, & If both of them die, then my Grandsonn Robertt Mendum shall haue It . . . Finally I make my sonn Jonathan my soole executor of this my last will & testament, giueing to him wtsoeuer Estate I haue not expressly mentioned aboue, whither in debts, or moueables or otherwise, willing him my sd executor to pay all my iust debts, & funerall Charges, & to burry mee in my fejld by my last wife"
