JOSIAH LIBBY, born in Kittery, (now Eliot), Me., 25 Oct. 1716; married 22 June 1742, MARY STONE of Scarborough. He left Kittery with his father and became a farmer. He lived on, or near, Scottow's Hill for about ten years succeeding his marriage, and then moved to Machias. He was probably among the first settlers in 1763. He lived at what is now Machias Village, and died shortly before April, 1786. His wife outlived him. Children bap 1743-59: Eleanor, Reuben, Joseph, Elijah, Hannah, Josiah, Nathan. [ref 25:77]
