Aaron MOSES and Ruth SHERBURNE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - MOSES, Ruth, daughter of Aaron, w. of Timothy Waterhouse, m. 2d Joseph Mead and 3d Joseph Skinner. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ruth, daughter of Aaron Moses and Ruth Sherburne, was the widow of (1) Timothy Waterhouse, (2) Joseph Mead and (3) Thomas Skinner, all of Portsmouth, died in Portsmouth on April 17, 1769. Because of interest in the great number of her living descendants an obituary appeared in the "New Hampshire Gazett" of April 21, 1769, in which the date of her birth was given as October 18, 1679. Three of the daughters of Ruth and Timothy Waterhouse were great-grandmothers of Charles Warren Brewster (1802-1868), editor of the "Portsmouth Journal" which preserve so much local lore in delightful form. In one of his "Rambles" he states that she was born a "Miss Moses." Granted that Mr. Brewster knew the name of his three-times great-great-grandmother, there is only one place for her in the Moses family of Portsmouth - as a child of Aaron Moses by his first wife. Time, propinquity and all of the available evidence are in favor of the conclusion that Ruth Waterhouse was an unrecorded daughter of aaron Moses.
