GILBERT, Obediah, s. of Thomas. On 11 Jan. 1670/1 he entered his homelot at Fairfield of which he had had quiet possession above eight years. Married Elizabeth, widow of Nehemiah Olmstead, dau. of Jehu Burr. She m. (3) Capt. Nathaniel Seeley. Will of Obediah of Fairfield, 23 Aug. 1674; wife Elizabeth; dau. Sarah Olmsted; sons Obediah, Benjamin, Joseph; brothers Jonathan and Josiah Gilbert, overseers. Inv. 16 Sept. 1674. [ref 55:2-221]

Obediah Gilbert settled in Fairfield, and made his will in Aug. 1674, mentioning wife, sons Obadiah, Benjamin, Joseph, one daughter, brothers Jonathan and Josiah Gilbert, overseers. [ref 60:2-8]

Stiles, in "Wethersfield" says the Elizabeth who married Nehemiah Olmstead and Obadiah Gilbert and had children Obediah, Benjamin and Joseph, is daughter of Dea. Richard Butler, born 1643 and as "Elizabeth Olmstead was admitted to full communion 3 Mar 1691/2 and died 28 Apr 1729

Stiles also says, on another page, it was Joseph Olmstead who married Elizabeth Butler

Savage says Elizabeth Butler married only Nehemiah Olmstead
