Thomas Gilbert, previously at Windsor, had a grant of land in Springfield Jan. 30, 1655, and at Fresh Water Brook, (Enfield) Feb. 12, 1660. He m. July 31, 1655, Catharine Bliss, widow of Nathaniel Bliss, of Springfield, and March 23, 1656, was adlmitted a freeman in Springfield. His widow m. Dec. 28, 1664, Samuel Marshfield. [ref 60:2-7]

Thomas did not accompany his father to America, but arrived after the birth of his first child [Mary born 1641]. Probably immigrated shortly before he bought a five-acre houselot in Windsor from Francis Stiles 24 Jan. 1664/5. Sometime prior to 1652, he sold the Windsor houselot to John Drake sr. and acquired an 11 3/4-acre houselot from Josiah Hull. In 1655 Thomas sold this second houselot to Thomas Bissell, and migrated to Springfield MA.

1644/45 bought land Windsor; 1646 was in Braintree MA
