SAMUEL LIBBY, born in Berwick, Me., 16 May 1781; married, 25 Oct. 1806, in Newcastle, MARY J. JOHNSON of Kittery. He was some years toll gatherer at Damariscotta Bridge, in Newcastle, and was also a surveyor of wood and bark. He was also a tanner, and later kept a boot and shoe store. He finally moved to Whitefield, where he died, 9 Feb. 1823. His widow died in Damariscotta, 4 Sept. 1861. Children: Hannah, Daniel, Samuel, Phebe, Joseph, Lucy Ann, William M. Levi. [ref 25:239]
