DAVID LIBBY, born in Berwick, Me., 1772; married first, ALICE LIBBY, 1-6-5-5-4; (died about 1807); second, 28 Dec. 1808, ANNE SMITH, daughter of Ichabod and ___ (Jones) Smith. He went to Lebanon a young man, and opened a store on the spot afterward occupied by the Baptist parsonage. After about twelve years he was ruined by a dishonest partner, and afterward gained a livelihood by tending a grist and carding mill, and from the small farm on which he always lived. He was a captain in the militia. He died 5 Dec. 1821. His widow died 14 March 1871, aged 85. Children, by first wife 1802-05: Sabina, Fanny, Clarissa; by second wife 1809-21: Ebenezer, Alice, Eliza, Robert, Phebe, David, Isetta.
