JOHN LIBBY, born in Lebanon, Me., about 1797; married POLLY HODGDON, daughter of Benjamin Hodgdon of Ossipee, N. H. He worked at farming and lumbering. He was killed in a sawmill in the interior of Maine, by a log rolling over him. This was in the fall of 1822, and two weeks later, in September, his wife died in Ossipee of fever. Only child 1819: Thomas. Children 1826-44: Amanda, Malvina, William, Sarah, Henry, Ivory, Samuel, John, Edward. [ref 25:245]
