Nicholas4 Edgecomb (Robert3, Robert2, Nicholas1) was born in Biddeford on March 13, 1740. He married at South Berwick on July 7, 1763, Mary Nason who died in Saco on May 28, 1774. He married his second wife, Elizabeth Tarbox of Biddeford, on March 17, 1778.

He served in the Rebolution as a private in Capt. Benjamin Hooper's Seacoast Company in 1775. When he married for the second time in 1778 he was "of Little Falls" but in November 1779, he was "of Ossipee," where he lived on the east side of what is called Mulloy's mountain.

Edgecomb was sued for trespass by the proprietors of Little Ossipee in 1777 and 1784. He signed the remonstrance against the incorporation of the town in 1791, but was chosen a selectman at the first town meeting on April 2, 1792. He was constable and collector of taxes in 1794 and 1795, selectman and assessor in 1796, and was reelected but declined to serve in 1798. He was a captain in the militia.

Nicholas Edgecomb, gentleman, made his will on December 13, 1814, leaving his personal estate to his wife Elizabeth and his real estate to children and grandchildren. Nicholas Edgecomb died before January 27, 1815, when the inventory of his estate was presented. Grandson John was named executor. Nicholas, son of Robert Edgecomb and Sarah Elwell; b. March 13, 1740. He served in the Revolution as a private in Capt. Benjamin Hooper's Co. from July 17, 1775 to Dec. 31, 1775. He became one of the first settlers of Limington, and was chosen a selectman at the incorporation of the town. His first wife was Mary ___, who died in Saco, May 28, 1774. He married second Elizabeth Tarbox, March 1, 1778. The will of Nicholas Edgecomb, Gentleman, of Limington, was proved Dec. 13, 1813, and mentions his wife Elizabeth, children and grandchildren (York Probate 24:54). [ref 46:1-493,501]
