Yet it is said, that he took sec. w. 4 Apr. 1695, Sarah Soper; had been famous as enemy of Ind. and was liv. in 88th yr. [ref 20]

Moses, s. of Rev. William of Salisbury; b. 10 Nov 1643. In July 1674 he bot 200 a. in Kit. from Capt. Wincoll and was there in Mar. 1674-5. He m. 1st bef. 4 Jul 1676 Elizabeth Start, m 2d 4 Apr. 1695 wid. Sarah Soper and was beating her in 1697. In 1709 he and Timothy Wentworth built a mill on Worcester River. At Mr. John Hall's request he rec. �5 of the money Mr. Samuel Hall left for relief of Ind. sufferers. In Nov. 1711 he deeded prop. to s. Thomas, for support if needed (Y.D. 7:262), and gave him ano. deed in Feb. 1713-4. His w. was liv. 1714; he was in want in 1719 and in 1720-21 gave deeds of land of his decd. s. Thomas taken on execution; in 1726 gr.s. John ord. to supp. him; in 1727 Thomas' wid. Sarah depos. that he liv. with Thomas 12 or 13 yrs. ago and she often heard him tell what Nicholas Morrell owed him for rent of his mill and land; liv. 1731. Ch: Thomas, William, Elizabeth. [ref 22]

Moses was the eighth, born at Salisbury 10 Nov. 1743[sic]. He came to Kittery in 1673 and was living in 1731 at age of 88. Was a famous hunter of Indians and was known as "Old Contrary." He married (1) before 4 July 1676 Elizabeth Start, (2) 4 April 1695 Sarah, widow of John Soper and dau. of Christian Remick. Children: Thomas, William, Elizabeth. [ref 33:806]

March 10, 1675, Moses Worcester of Kitterie, planter, conveyed for 25 pds. to John Allen his property in Salisbury, remainder to Rishard Hubbard � May 21, 1675.

1682. Mr. Samuel Hall, some time a resident in Massachusetts, had died at Langford near Malden, Essex county, England. He bequeathed �100 to those, who lost by the great fire in Boston and by Indian wars in this colony. Mr. John Hall of Islington, near London, was his executor, who sent an order to his mother, Mrs. Rebeccah Symonds of Ipswich, to dispose of the bequest. She gave to individuals who had suffered by Indians, as follows:--�8 to Martha Graves; �10 to Moses of Newichiwanack, son of the Rev. William Worcester; �5 to Frances Graves of Ipswich; �3 to Martha Coy, fied to Boston, widow of John Coy of Brookfield, slain; 33s. to Susannah, widow of Thomas Ayres, also slain.
