[ref 51] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Joseph petitioned the General Court for a grant of land in consideration of his mother's services in assisting Hannah Dustin in killing 'divers Indians.' In his petition he declared that his mother was 'kept a prisoner a considerable time' and 'in their return home past through the utmost hazard of their lives and suffered distressing want, being almost starved before they could return to their dwellings.' the Court granted Joseph Neff 200 acres of land in 1738 in return for Mary's heroism killing Indians. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | ||||||||||
