MOSES, Salem, s. of Samuel Eborne m. 9 Sept. 1671, Sarah Haines, perhaps d. of William, had Moses; Joseph; and Sarah; and his w. d. 1 Nov. 1676. But he had, perhaps, former w. m. 1657, d. of Humphrey Gilbert. [ref 20]

Moses; husbandman; born in 1645-6, son of Samuel Aborne (Eaborne) and Catherine Smith of Salem Village; lived in Marblehead in 1666-7, and in Salem until about 1678, when he removed to Lynn where he afterwards lived; married, first, Sarah Haines Sept. 9, 1671; she died Nov. 1, 1676; married, second, Abigail Gilbert of Ipswich, who was living in 1723; died in the winter of 1735-6; children*: Moses, Joseph, Sarah, Abigail, Thomas, Hannah, Mary, James, John, Samuel, Ebenezer. Jun 1672 Moses and Sarah Eborne were severely censured for their apparent "uncleanness" prior to marriage and sentenced to be whipped on the next lecture day or pay a fine; they were excommunicated from the Salem Church in April 1676
