Moses Hutchins Gordon (Peaslee5, Jonathan4, Alexander3, Daniel2, Alexander1), born Bath, N.H. 8 Apr 1820, d. Whitefield, N. H. 23 Jun 1887, bur. there. Married 26 Jun 1843 Malinda T. McGregor, b. Whitefield 4 Jan 1818, d. 7 Aug 1905 ae 87y, dau. of Loma/Loammi McGregor of Whitefield. Moses came to Whitefield in March 1841. He was first a clerk in a store for his cousin Pelco Johnson. He soon (1845) engaged in lumber business for himself and most of his life he was in the lumber and starch-making business, a successful man in business living about four years on a Johnson farm by the shore of Burn's Pond in Whitefield. A merchant 3 years and Post Master 17 years. He held many town offices at various times: Town Clerk, Selectman, and Representative at Concord. In politics a Republican. He joined the Masons in 1866 and was a Knight Templar many years. He was a loyal supporter and attendent of the Baptist Church, an affable, and highly esteemed colligue, worthy of the good name of Gordon. He retired from active business about 7 years before his death. Children: Eliza, Charles, Mary. [ref 80:185]
