Nicholas, b. 23 Mar. 1665-6; constab. Exeter 1697, several times selectm. Adm. on est. of gr.fa. Nich. Lissen gr. to him 8 Dec. 1714. He m. aft. 20 June 1685, app. as 1st w., Sarah, wid. of Edward Sewall; sued on her acct. Jan. 1695-6; m. 2d Maria (Hersey), wid. of Joshua Gilman, who surv. Will 31 Mar. 1747, giving to w., numer. gr.ch. and dau. Mary, was contested by the wid., dau. Patience and ch. of Jona. Gordon. Ch: Lydia, Mary, Elizabeth. [ref 22]

Nicholas Gordon (Alexander1), born Exeter, N.H. 23 Mar 1666, died 1748 at Exeter. Married after 20 Jun 1685, apparently his first wife, Sarah Hale, widow of Edward Sewall. Married 2nd after 26 Jan 1717/8, Maria Hersey, widow of Joshua Gilman. Maria was b. Hingham, Mass, 12 Jan 1677/8, dau. of John and Sarah Hersey. Nicholas Gordon made his will 31 Mar 1747, giving to widow, numerous grand children and dau. Mary. Will was contested by the widow, dau. Patience and children of Jonathan Gordon. Inventory of his estate was 3599L 14s 3d. Nicholas was a constable in Exeter in 1697, and several times selectman. He was administrator on estate of his grand father Nicholas Lysson granted to him 8 Dec 1714. Nicholas Gordon resided in that part of Exeter that was later known as Brentwood. He was proprietor of a sawmill on Little River, at Exeter. Children by Sarah Hale: Patience, Lydia, Elizabeth, Mary, unnamed daughter. [ref 80:5]
