SAMUEL4 CLEMENTS (John3, Robert2, Robert1) and Elizabeth Ayer; born in Haverhill, Mass., 2 Nov. 1677, died there, 3 Oct. 1754. He married in Haverhill, 11 July 1705, Ruth Peasley, born in Haverhill, 25 Feb. 1684, died after 1759, daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Barnard) Peasley. Samuel4 Clements following the example of his grandfather became a cooper. As the eldest son of John3, who was the eldest son of Robert2 Clements, he received a double share of his father's property and a gift of land from his grandfather. When Jonathan3 Clements gave all his property to his brother Fawne, in his Will in 1712, he instructed him to give "as he Shall think fitt" to his father and mother, if alive, and to the children of his brother Robert and sister Hannah Crocket, but he made no mention of the children of his brother John. As Samuel Clements had rights in the property of Jonathan Clements, he must have acquired them, either by an unrecorded deed of purchase, or by inheritance from his grandfather Robert, who was to be given a share in Jonathan's property. He also obtained by purchase a considerable estate in Haverhill, the original property of his great-grandfather, Robert1 Clements. Children born in Haverhill: Timothy, Ruth, Hannah, Moses, Sarah, Susanna, Miriam, Eleanor, Samuel. [ref 88:104]
