JOHN Sanders of Newbury had w. Esther, d. of John Rolfe, and by her had Esther, John, Ruth, John, again, and he went home, own. an est. in Wiltsh. leav. his br.-in-law Richard Dole of Newbury, his atty. To prevent confus. of the two Johns, we may further note, that one of the name came in the Confidence of London, aged 25, husbandman of Longford, also in Co. Wilts, with w. Sarah, emb. at Southampton 24 Apr. 1638; and if we accept him as the John to wh. (with w. Sarah) Coffin gives ch. Sarah, Mary, Abigail, Joseph, Elizabeth 26 Jan. 1655; we may feel sure that Pike's* w. was not his d. It may indeed seem that she might have been sis. of either of the two. [ref 20]
*Maj. Robert Pike married Sarah daughter of John Sanders and Alice Coles
