Samuel Kinsley of Bridgewater, Mass., and later of Taunton, Mass., married Mary Washburn4, daughter of John Washburn of Bridgewater by his first wife, Elizabeth Mitchell3, daughter of Experience Mitchell and Jane2 Cooke (Francis). The date of marriage must have taken place before 10 September, 1694, when Samuel Kinsley and others all of Bridgewater, sold "a Parcell of Land left unwilled by our Father & Father in law John Washburne Deceased". This deed and another dated 1 April, 1700, in which "Samuel Kinsley & Mary his wife" with other "heires of John washborn of said Bridgwater" sold land which had been granted to said John Washburn. It is probable that the marriage of Samuel Kinsley and Mary Washburn was before 1693, as their "Eldest son" Samuel Kinsley was at least twenty-one years of age on 13 July 1714 when he was appointed administrator on his father's estate. The division of the father's estate, made on 5 October, 1722, land is set off to Samuel, Benjemin, Hannah, Sarah, Mary, Susanna, Abigall, Bethiah. The only record of the date of death of Samuel Kinsley, the father, is in the inventory. [ref 93:30-16]

An "Inventory of the Estate of Samuel Kingley senr which Deceased the 17 day of Decembr in the year of our Lord 1713" was taken on 19 February, 1713/4, by Edward Fobes, John Phillips and Thomas Pratt. It was sworn to, on 14 July 1714, by "Samuel Kingley of sd Taunton North Purchass Eldest son of mr Samuel Kingley of sd Taunton North Purchase . . . Deceased Intestate" The real estate was: "The home Liveing" 110; "fifty acres lyeing near Ephraim Howard land" 40; "Twenty five accres lyeing in the Third Divission" 13; "half a share in the Seder swamp" 5; "Nine acres in Crambery meadow Swamp" 10; "half a Right in the undivided lands" 8. The total was 274, 8s., 5d. On 8 July, 1714, Mary Kingsley (signing by a mark) petitioned the court "to give my son Samuel Kingsley a Letter of Administration to Administr on his Decd Fathers Inheritance for I am not willing to Concern my self with it" In an unrecorded bond 13 July, 1714, "Samuel Kinsley" of Taunton North Purchase, "Eldest son of mr Samuel Kingley of sd North Purchase", as administrator, gave bond for 500, with John Phillips and Benjamin Drake, both of Taunton North Purchase sureties. The witnesses were Thomas Fenton and John Cary. The account of "Samuel Kingsley of Taunton North Purchase" administrator, is dated "Bristoll Novembr 10th 1715". Payments had been received from Timothy Cooper, Edward Fobes, Edward Hayward, Thomas Drake, David Ames, amounting to 3, 0s., 9d. Payments had been made to "mr Nicholas Byram for phizick in time of sicknes", Ephraim Hayward, Joseph Hayward, Samuel Edson, David Hubard, Samuel Snell, Jeremiah Nuland, Ephraim Huet, William Snow, Nicholas Smith, John Field, John Ames, Nathaniel Ames, Clement Briggs, Joseph Crosman, James Latham, Thomas Snell, Edward Mitchel, William Manley, Thomas Buck, James Leonard, "mr Samuel Danforth". The account was signed "Samuel Kinsley", but the oath erroneously states that "Nathll Kingsley" swore tot he account, as administrator on the "Estate of his father mr Samll Kingsley late of Taunton North purchase", before Nathaniel Paine, Esq., Judge of Probate, on 9 November, 1715. The oath is in the handwriting of Nathaniel Paine, who by mistake wrote "Nathll" instead of "Samuel" Kingsley. The register of probate, in recording, in recording the oath, entered the name correctly, as "Samuel" Kingsley. On 6 March, 1721/2, "mr Epharaim Randell mr John Phillips mr Benjamin Drake mr Thomas manley & mr Clementt Briggs" "All sufficiant Freeholders with the County of Bristoll or any three of you" were appointed "to make a Divission on ye Houseing and Lands of mr Samuell Kingsley of Taunton North Purchass Deceased Intestate and also of his Personall Estate . . . amongst the Widdow and childreen and shuch as shall Legally represent them if any of them be Dead". "The Gentlemen above Named" were sworn the same day. The division of the real estate was made 5 October, 1722 and allowed 9 October, 1722. (Bristol co probate 3:194,246; 4:141) [ref 93:30-17]
