[ref 30:41] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Adam Wright (Hester Cooke, Francis) of Plymouth and Plympton, Mass, was twice married and had children by both wives. The children of the first wife, Sarah3 Soule (John, George) had two Mayflower ancestors, but the children of the second wife, Mehitable Barrow (George), had only one Mayflower ancestor. The date of Sarah Soule's marriage to Adam Wright, the date of her death, and the date of Adam Wright's marriage to Mehitable Barrow are unknown. Sarah was living 16 March, 1690/1, when she signed a deed, but she probably died before 1699. [ref 93:11-242] Adam Wright3, born about 1645, married, first, Sarah3 Soule (John, George); married, second, Mehitable Barrows. He had six children by the first wife and four by the second wife. [ref 93:24-83] "Adam Wright of ye Town of plimouth" for �5 "lawfull money of New England to me in hand paid By John Tomson junr of ye Town of Middlebury" sold to him "All my whole Richt . . . being ye one half of two Lotts up upland . . . in ye Township of Middleborough in A Certain Purchase Commonly Called the Purchase of ye Six and Twenty in Which said Purchase my Honoured Grandfather ffrancis Cooke deceased had a share to Dispose amongst his children And he Disposed ye one half there of unto my Honoured ffather Richard Wright And ye other half to John Tomson senr And my ffather Richard Wright gave his half share unto me In which whole share are ye two lots aforesaid ye one being a Twenty acre latt Butting upon ye uper meadow Bounded on ye North west side by the land of Caleb Williamson and on ye southeast side it is Bounded by ye land of John Churchell and Samuel Delano And ye other Lott Being a five and Twenty acre lott Butteth upon Tittecut River above Namasket River" The deed was dated 16 March, 1690/1, and signed by a mark. It was witnessed by Elisha Bradford and Benjamin Soule. "Richard Wright Adam Wright his Son and Sarah ye wife of Adam Wright all of them Coming personally before me ye 16th of March 1699/1 Did freely own and acknowlidge ye Deed above written to be their act & Deed William Bradford Dept Govenr" The deed was recorded 3 Aug 1696 (Plym. co deed 2:28). [ref 93:11:244] "We Adam Wright of Plimton . . . & Mehetabel his Wife for" �10 "to us . . . paid by George Barrow of Plimton . . . Quit Our Claim . . . of our Part or Proportion of the Estate of our Hond Father Robert Barrow late of Plymth deceasd either real or personal" The deed was dated 20 June 1717. Adam and Mehitable both signed by marks, and both acknowledged the deed, on the day it was made, before Nathaniel Thomas, Jr., Justice of the Peace. The deed was recorded 23 June, 1736 (Plym. co deed 30:167). [ref 93:11-244] "I Adam Wright of Plimton . . . in Consideration of that Love . . . which I have & do bear unto my Daughter Sarah Fuller the Wife of Seth Fuller of Plimton aforesd and for divers other good Causes & Considerations . . . Have Given . . . unto the sd Seth Fuller & Sarah his Wife . . . all that my fourty two acres of Land lying on the Neck adjoyning to the Northerly Side of Colchester Brook which fourty two acres was laid out June ye 4th 1707. Twenty one acres thereof was part of my sixty acre Right and the other twenty one acres was Part of ye Sixty acre Right of my Son John Wright in the Division of Sixty Acre Lots in the Township of Plymouth, The Bounds whereof appear upon the Proprietors Book of Records at Plymouth To Have and to Hold" The deed was dated 9 April, 1723, and signed by a mark. It was witnessed by Isaac Cushman, Jr., and Nathaniel Fuller, and was acknowledged 4 June, 1723, before Nathaniel Thomas, Justice of the Peace. It was recorded 22 June, 1725 (Plym. co deed 19:58). [ref 93:11-245] Adam Wright, the son of Richard and Hester (Cooke) Wright and the grandson of Francis Cooke of the Mayflower, died at Plympton, Mass., 20 September, 1724. His first wife was Sarah3 Soule (John, George); his second was Mehitable the daughter of Robert Barrows of Plymouth. [ref 93:4-239] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (Plymouth co probate V:26-9) WILL of ADAM WRIGHT, 9 Apr 1723 - 2 Nov 1724: Know all men by these Presents yt I Adam Wright of Plympton in ye County of Plymth, in new : England : being grown to old age altho by ye Blessing of God I am in perfect health & of Sound mind & memory & being minded to Settle my Estate do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament as followeth that is to Say : Imprimis I give & Bequeath unto my Son John Wright (besides what I gave Him in ye Land whereon he now dwelleth) ye Sum of five Shillings money as also all my Rights of Land where Ever they may be found which are not otherwise disposed of in this Will or otherwise by Deeds. Item : I have already given by deeds unto my two Sons Isaac Wright & Samuel Wright ye lands whereon they & I now dwell which I Esteem to be their full Part & Portion of my Estate : Item : I have already given unto my Son Moses Wright by Deed all my Lands Lying in Winnatuxitt neck which I esteem to be his full Part & Portion of my Estate. Item : I give & Bequeath unto my two Grand:Children: viz: Joshua Pratt & Sarah his sister children of my Daughter Esther Pratt decd ye Sum of five Shillings a Peice money which with what I gave unto their sd mother in her Life time I esteem to by their full Part & Portion of my Estate. Item. I have given by Deed bearing Date with these Presents unto my Daughter Sarah Fuller ye wife of Seth Fuller all my Lands lying upon ye neck on ye northerly side of Colchester Brook which together with what moveable Estate She hath already Had I esteem to be Her full Part & Portion of my Estate. Item : I give & bequeath unto my two Sons viz: James Wright & Nathan Wright ye Sum of one Hundred Pounds in money a Peice to be Paid unto them by my Executrix out of my Estate when they shall arrive to ye age of twenty one years old. Item : I give & bequeath unto my daughter Mary Gifferd ye wife of Jeremiah Giffered ye Sum of twenty Pounds to be Paid by my Executrix out of my moveable Estate at my decease. To Have & to Hold the Same forever against us & all others Claiming from by or under Us or the sd Adam Wright or Sarah his Wife who was the Daughter of ye sd John Soule" The deed was dated 14 November, 1738, and signed by John and Isaac Wright, Joshua and Sarah Dunham, Ebenezer and Rachel Barlow, Jeremiah and Mary Gifford, but not by Archippus Fuller. Sarah and Rachel signed by marks. The witnesses were Jacob Tomson, Elkanah Leonard, Philip Mosher, Enos Gifford, Nathan Weston (by his mark), Samuel Wright, Edward Winslow. The signatures were acknowledged as follows: 20 November, 1738, by Ebenezer Barlow, and 21 November, by Rachel, both in Plymouth County, before Edward Winslow, Justice of the Peace; 22 November, by Jeremiah and Mary Gifford, in Bristol County, before Samuel Willis, Justice of the Peace; 20 December, 1738, by John and Isaac Wright, Joshua and Sarah Dunham, in Plymouth County, before Samuel Bartlett, Justice of the Peace.
