To "Mary my . . . wife the southward half of my Home stead with all ye Houseing, orchards, fences, and appurtenances thereof, to be by her freely used,improved, and enjoyed dureing ye time of her widdowhood" also "all my personall Estate of what sort soever it be, only it is my will, that so much of my sd personall Estate herein given to my wife, as shall be left at her decease, and not my her disposed of shall be equally divided between my six Daughters, here after named. To "my son Thomas Taber one eight part of one whole share, of upland and swamp within ye township of Dartmouth aforesd both divided, and undivided, the farm whereon he dwells being part thereof with so much of ye salt marsh meadow att ye foot thereof as is now bounded out to him from ye rest of my meadow in sd place: also "one acre of sedge flat lying in acokset river, on westermost arm in sd Dartmouth" also "one fourth part of my right in the mill Lands on Accushnett river in sd Dartmouth, and one fourth part of my right in ye mill Dam on sd river . . . and it is my will that my son Thomas Taber shall pay ye sum of tenn pounds in good passable pay at money price unto his sisters as I shall hereafter order it to be paid: To "my two sons Joseph Taber and John Taber, ye farm of land whereon they dwell each to enjoy their parts in serverallity as it is already divided between them, I allso give to my sd two sons each forty acres of land within the four hundred devisition of lands in sd Dartmouth, and I also give to each of them one eight part of one whole share of cedar swamp within sd Township I also give unto my sd sons Joseph and John each one eight part of one whole share of Land in sd township after twelve hundredred acres to a share is laid out and finished, I also give them my lot of Land in Sconticut Neck lying at a place called ye old fields be it more or less, and is allso within sd Township, to be equally devided between them I allso give unto them my lot of marsh meadow on ye little Island near sd neck, and at ye goeing on to Nakatay Island I allso give to them ye one halfe of ye remaining part of my marsh meadow lying att ye foot of my sd son Thomass Homestead, after my son Thomas has his part taken off, to be equally devided between them and whereas my sd two sons Joseph and John did purchase each of them forty acres of land of Menasseth Kempton of South Hampton on Long Island . . . in ye province of New York gunsmith, and the deed with twenty acres, more in all one hundred acres was made and passed unto my self by one deed of sale beareing Date ye" 20 January, 1714/15, "I do therefore by this my will give . . . unto my sd two sons Joseph Taber and John Taber the sd fourty acres apeice; and whereas I did give to my Daughter Bethyah Blackwel and to her husband Caleb Blackwel Blacksmith twenty acres of land within ye four Hundred acre devition of lands in sd Dartmouth and ye sd Caleb Blackwell hath hath[sic] sold ye same unto my sd son Joseph Taber, I do hereby ratify & confirm sd sale, and do will that my sd son Joseph do enjoy ye same . . . and it is my will yt my sons Joseph Taber and John Taber shall pay each of them ye sum of tenn pounds to their sisters as I shall hereafter order it to be paid: To "my son Jacob ye notherly halfe of my Homestead with all ye appurtenances thereof with one halfe of ye salt marsh meadow at or ajoyning to ye foot of sd homestead and to be ye notherly halfe thereof" also "ye one half of my salt marsh meadow att ye foot of my son Thomass Homestead, after what is above disposed of is taken off, with thirty acres of land within the four Hundred acre Devition of land in in[sic] Dartmouth aforesd also one wight part of a whole share of ye undevided land in sd Dartmouth after twelve hundred acres to a share is laid out, with one eight part of a whole share of cedar swamp in sd Township . . . and it is my will yt my sd son Jacob shall pay fourteen pounds to his sisters as I shall hereafter order it to be pd" To "my son Phillip Taber ye southerly half of my Homestead with all ye Houseing orchards and appurtenances thereof with ye southerly half of ye saltmarsh meadow lying at or ajoyning to ye foot of my sd Homestead excepting what previdedge I have above given to my wife therein dureing her Widdowhood, I also give to my sd son Phillip ye remaining part of my Salt marsh meadow at ye foot of my son Thomas Taber,s Homestead, after what is above disposed of is taken off also thirty acres of land within ye four hundred acre devition of land in sd Dartmouth" also "one eight part of one whole share of cedar swamp within sd township with one eight part of one whole share of ye undevided within one eightpart of one whole share of ye undevided within sd Dartmouth after yt twelve hundred acres to a share is laid out" "and it is my will yt my sons above named shall allow each other drift ways for them and their Heirs to pass across ye land above given as occation shall require" To "my son Joseph Taber . . . one halfe of my right in ye mill lands on accushnett river in sd Dartmouth with one half of my right in ye dam thereto belonging . . . and it is my will yt my sd son phillip shall pay ye sum of twenty pounds to his sisters in such manner as I shall here after order it to be paid" To "my six Daughters hereafter named over and above what I have already given them, as follows, "To my Daughter Esther perry and her Husband I give my lot of upland and Meadow near ye lower end of Sconticut neck, with twenty five acres of land within ye four hundred acre devition both within sd Dartmouth, also one sixteenth part of a share of cedar swamp within sd township and sixteenth part of a share ye undevided land with sd township after twelve hundred acres to a share is laid out: also "ye sum of six pounds to be paid by my son Thomas" "To my Daughter Lidia Kinney I give thirty acres of land be it more or less lying uppon Naskatuckit brook and at ye head of John Tincomes oakey plain lot and is bounded as many appear y ye return of Benjamin Cranes survey . . . also ye sum of six pounds . . . four pounds thereof to be paid by my son Thomas Taber and two pounds to be paid by my son Jacob Taber" "To my Daughter Sarah Hart and her jusband . . . I give two acres of sedge flat meadow lying in acokset river or westermost arm within sd Dartmouth" also "six pounds to be paid by my son Joseph Taber" "To my Daughter Mary Morton and her Husband I give one fourth part of my right in ye mill land on acushenitt river with one fourth part of my right in ye Dam on sd River: also "twenty pounds to be paid at ye end of three years after my decease . . . four pounds of it to be paid by my son Joseph Taber, and twelve pounds by my son Jacob Taber and four pounds by my son John Taber" "To my Daughter Bethyah Blackwell and her Husband I give ye abovesd twenty acres of land within the four hundred acre Devition" also "six pounds to be paid by my son John Taber . . . within three years after my decease: "To my Daughter Abigail Taber and her Husband I give ye sum of twenty pounds to be paid by my son phillip Taber . . . within three years after my decease: "to my former man servant Simson Spooner . . . twenty acres of land within ye four Hundred acre Debition of land in sd Dartmouth" "And I do make . . . my four sons above named my Executors" The witnesses were Steven west, Christopher Turner and Catharine Turner. The will was probated on 20 March 1732/3, on the testimony of Christopher and Catharine Turner. On 20 March, 1732/3, letter of administration was granted to "Jacob Taber one of the Executors . . . Joseph Taber John Taber & Phillip Taber Appointed Executors have Refused to Accept of the Same" On 20 March, 1732/3, "Jacob Taber Executor to the Last Will . . . of his father Thomas Taber Late of Dartmouth deceased," with Christopher Turner, yeoman, and James Cushman, cordwainer as his sureties, all three being of Dartmouth, gave a bond of �600. The witnesses were Stephen Paine and Isaac Howland. On 28 May, 1733, Christopher Turner, Isaac Pope and Thomas Nye took an inventory of the "Estate of Capt Thomas Tager Late of Dartmouth Decsd" The only real estate mentioned was "67 acres 1/2 of unimproved Land" �67, 10s. On 21 August, 1733, "Jacob Taber sole "Executor . . . of his father Capt Thomas Taber . . . Deceased" made oath to the inventory. (Dartmouth probate 7:512,515,589). Feb. 1646, Yarmouth/Martha's Vineyard, d. 11 Nov. 1730, Dartmouth. 10 chil. [ref 30] Mary Tomson, d. 3 May 1734 [ref 30] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Esther Cook, b. 16 Aug., 1650; d. in 1671; m. as first wife, in 1667, Thomas, son of Philip Taber by his wife Lydia Masters. Thomas Taber was surveyor of Highways of Dartmouth in 1673, town clerk 1679, selectman 1685, 1692, 1694, 1698, 1699-1702, deputy 1698, and was commissioned captain of the militia of that town, 20 May, 1690. By this marriage he had but two children - Thomas, and Esther (who m. ___ Perry, and is so named in the will of John Cooke). He m. 2d, June 1672, Mary Thompson, dau. of Lieutenant John Thompson by his wife Mary, dau. of Francis Cooke the Pilgrim.
