His wife, Elizabeth Tomson3, daughter of Lieut. John Tomson by his wife Mary2 Cooke (Francis), was born at Barnstable 28 January, 1654. William Swift and Elizabeth Tomson were married in probably 1678 or 1679, as their "eldest sone" was born 24 January, 1679. If this date was in old style the corresponding new style date would have been 3 February, 1680. William and Elizabeth (Tomson) Swift had ten children, but only nine are found on the Sandwich records 1679-after 1690: William, Benjamin, Joseph, Samuel, Joanna, Thomas, Elizabeth, Thankful, Josiah, Ebenezer. The will of William Swift, Jr., who married Elizabeth Tomson3 was made on 17 June, 1700; the inventory was taken 1 May, 1701; and the will was probated 12 May, 1701. [ref 93:30-110] "William Swift Junr of the Town of Sandwich . . . Carpender" made his will 17 June, 1700. "I make my loving wife Elizabeth my whole & sole executrix" "I give to my wife all my lands both upland and meadows with the house and all other edifices during her widowhood also I give unto my woife all the household stuff with all the goods & chattels excepting to each one viz William and Benjamin one cow & Calfe a peice and foure sheep a peice" "but and If she Marry again then I give unto my eldest sone William and Joseph all my movable estate wth my upland & meadows equaly to be divided between them and In full thre years after their entry upon sd Estate they namely William and Joseph shal pay Each of them unto their brother Benjamin five pounds apiece so they to pay all the Rest of their brothers and sisters ten pounds apeice after the same maner aforsd viz beginning att the next eldest brother or sister paying them according to his or her age every third year until they are all fully paid but If it shall please god to take both or one namely William or Joseph out of this world then the next eldest brothers to possess In like maner" The witnesses were Thomas Tupper, Martha Tupper and John Jenning. On 12 May, 1701, "Capt Thomas Tupper and Martha Tupper his wif" made oath to the will, before William Bassett, Register. "The Inventory of the estate of William Swift late of Sandwich now Deceasd" was taken on 1 May, 1701, but the names of the appraisers were not recorded. It was sworn to, on 12 May, 1701, by "Elizabeth Swift widow and Relict of William Swift". "The houses and barn with all the upland and meadow" were valued at 130.
