[ref 30] children of Jacob Tomson & Abigail Wadsworth 1695-1712: Jacob, Abigail, Mercy, John, Lydia, Barnabas, Esther, Hannah, Mary, Caleb [ref 30] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jacob Tomson3, son of Lieutenant John Tomson by his wife Mary2 Cooke (Francis), was born 24 April, 1662, according to the Barnstable, Mass., records, and was married, 28 December, 1693, to Abigail Wadsworth, born 25 October, 1670, daughter of Deacon John and Abigail (Andrews) Wadsworth, of Duxbury. Jacob and Abigail had ten children, all recorded at Middleborough, Mass., 1695-1712: Jacob, Abigail, Mercy, John, Lydia, Barnabas, Esther, Hannah, Mary, Caleb. Jacob Tomson3, Esq., died at Middleborough, 1 September, 1726, in his 65th year, according to the town records and his gravestone; and Abigail his widow died 15 January, 1744, in her 75th year, according to her gravestone. Jacob Tomson3 died intestate, and the settlement of his estate shows that his wife and all of his ten children survived him. The widow Abigail (Wadsworth) Tomson made her will on 16 April, 1739 and all of the ten children were then living. [ref 93:24-167] On 22 September, 1726, "mr Jacob Tomson of middleboro" was appointed administrator on the estate of "your Father Jacob Tomson Esqr late of middleboro . . . dyed Intestate" In an unrecorded bond on 22 September, 1726, Jacob Tomson, as administrator, with Thomas Tomson and Ichabod King as sureties, all three of Middleborough, gave a bond for �2000. The witnesses were Consider Howland and Nehemiah Bennett. On 23 September, 1726, "mr Isaac Cushman mr David Bosworth both of Plimpton and mr Samuell Barrow of Middlegorough" were appointed to appraise "all the Estate both Reall and Personall" An inventory of "ye Estate both Real & Personal" was taken, by the three appraisers, at Middleborough, 7 March, 1726/7. The personal estate was valued at �651, 19s., 7d. "Instruments belonging to Surveying & writing" were valued at �2, 3s., 9d; "Paper & Parchment" 7s. The real estate, amounting to �4568, 3s., was as follows: "His two hundred acre Lotts being in Number ye 12th & ye 18th Lotts with ye 14th Lott of meadow all in ye 26 mens Purchase & given by Deed to His Son Jacob" �220. To "my Six Daughters Abigail Packard, Mercy Bennett Lidya Packard Hannah Read Ester Bennet & Mary Tomson all my wearing Cloaths to be Equally Divided amongst them" "all my Just Debts and whatsoever Cost or Charge that any of my Children Shall be at by tending me when I am Sick or Infebled by Age or any Other way together with my Funerall Charges Shall first be paid out of the bills of Creditt which I Shall have or Just debts due to me at my decease and whatsoever Shall remain undisposed of Either of the bills of Creditt or of the Debts due to me when these aforesaid Charges are paid . . . I Give . . . unto my three yonguest Daughters Namely Ester Bennet Hannah Read & Mary Tomson and to my Grandson Moses the son of my Daughter Abigail together with all my Household Goods to be Equally Divided amongst them" To "my four Sons Jacob Tomson, John Tomson, Barnabas Tomson, & Caleb Tomson and to my sd Grandson Moses all my Sheep and Other Neat Cattles to be Equally Divided amongst them." "I allso Give my Sider mill to my three yonguest sons Namely John Barnabas & Caleb" "my son Barnabas Tomson Shall be the Executor" "I the sd Abigail Tomson desire that my Children would Agree lovingly and peacibly in divideing of those things that I have here Given to you and not put your Selves to Charge by going to ye Judge of Probate." The witnesses were Zachariah Soule, Ebenezer Fuller and Ruth Fuller. The will was probated at Scituate, 4 February, 1744, on the oaths of Zachariah Soule and Ebenezer Fuller, and administration granted to "Barnabas Tomson of Hallifax aforesd Sole Executor" On 4 February, 1744, "Thomas Croade, Esqr, Ebenezer Fuller of Hallifax & Zachariah Soule of Plymton" were appointed to appraise the estate. On the same day, Zachariag Soule and Ebenezer Fuller, and Barnabas Tomson, the executor, made oath to the inventory. "An inventory of the Estate of Mrd Abigail Tomson late of Hallifax deceased" was taken February, 1744, by the three apprasers. No real extate was mentioned. The total amount was �347, 14s, 4d.
