[ref 30:41] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Tomson3, born 19 October, 1664, died 26 October, 1742; married, 13 December, 1715, Mary Morton4 (Mary Ring3, Deborah2 Hopkins, Stephen) [ref 93:30-52] Thomas Tomson3, son of John Tomson and his wife Mary2 Cooke (Francis), was born at Barnstable, Plymouth Colony on 19 October 1664, and was married at Middleborough, Mass., on 13 December 1715, by Rev. Peter Thacher, to Mary Morton4, daughter of John Morton and his wife Mary Ring (Deborah Hopkins, Stephen) of that town. Mary Morton4 was born at Plymouth 15 December 1689. Thomas and Mary had seven children, all recorded at Middleborough 1716-28: Reuben, Mary, Thomas, Amasa, Andrew, Ebenezer, Zebadiah. The death of Thomas Tomson3 was entered on the Halifax, Mass., records as follows: "Mr Thomas Tomson Senior Dyed october the 26th 1742". According to the probate records of Plymouth County, an administrator on Thomas Tomson's estate was appointed "the twenty ninth day of September", 1742, nearly a month before the date of his death as given on town records and gravestone. The original bond of the administrators and the original warrant for the inventory were both dated 12 January, 1742, which would be 23 January, 1743 in New Style dating, and the inventory was taken 13 July, 1743. Widow Mary (Morton) Tomson made her will on 1 May, 1756, but it was not probated until 4 July, 1781, nearly twenty-five years after it was made. [ref 93:25-175] On "the twenty ninth day of September Anno Domini, 1742", "Ruben Tomson Husbandman, Mary tomson widdow both of Hallifax John Murdoch of Plymouth Esqr & Ebenezer Morton of Middleforo" were appointed administrators on the estate of "Thomas Tompson late of Hallifax . . . Deceasd . . . Intestate" In an unrecorded bone, 12 January, 1742, Reuben Tomson, husbandman, and Mary Tomson, widow, "both of Hallifax", with John Murdoch, Esq., of Plymouth, and Ebenezer Morton of Middleborough, gave a bond for �5000. The bond was signed by "Reuben Tomson", Mary Tomson (by a mark), "John murdoch" and Ebenezer Morton. The witnesses were Perez Tillson and Edward Winslow. On 12 January, 1742, "Tomas Croade of Hallifax Ebenezer Morton & Jacob Tompson both of Middleborough Gentm" were appointed to appraise the estate. "An Inventory of the Estate Real & Personall of mr Thomas Tomson late of Hallifax deceas'd" was taken, 13 July, 1743, by Thomas Croade, Ebenezer Morton and Jacob Tomson, and was sworn to on that day, by Reuben Tomson and Mary Tomson, the administrators. Interesting items in the personal estate were: "Books" �6, 11s; "One Negro woman" �100; "One negro Girl" �90; "two Ink horns" 4s.; "a pew in the meeting house" �15; "his interest in a Stable at ye meeting house" �4; "his Stock of Cattle horses Sheep & Swine" �350, 14s.; "Debts Due to the Estate" �1786, 1s., 2d. The total personal estate was �3075, 12s., 1d. Pr. 4 July 1781 (25:185-6; 247; Plym. pr #20610; 28:182). [ref 30:41] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Mary Tomson of Hallifax . . . Widow Relict of Thomas Tomson late of said Hallifax Deceased" made her will 1 May, 1756. Bequests were as follows: "I order that my Estate Shall be divided into Six equal Shares, and I give to my Sons Reuben, Thomas, Amasa Ebenezer & Zebadiah each of them one Share, and to the Heirs of my Daughter Mary Waterman Deceased one Share. "And whereas all my Children have enter'd into Bonds to pay me a certain Sum yearly towards my Maintenance during my natural Life, I here order that if any of them are in Arrears at my Decease not having paid their Proportion, that So much as is behind Shall be deducted out of their Share of my estate as being already paid." "my Son Ebenezer to be the Sole Executor" The will was signed by a mark. The witnesses were John Cotton, Hannah Cotton and "Lucy Dyre". The will was probated 4 July, 1781, on the oaths of "John Cotton Esqr & Sucy Dyre two of the Witnesses" and administration granted to "Ebenezer Tomson Esqr" On 4 July, 1781, "Messrs Moses Inglee Jacob Tomson & Judah Wood all of Halifax . . . yeomen" were appointed to appraise the estate. On 7 July, 1781, the inventory was taken at Halifax, by Moses Inglee, Judah Wood and Jacob Tomson, and was sworn to there, on that date, before Ebenezer Tomson, Justice of the Peace. The only items were: "1/3 of a pew in the Meeting house" �3, 10s., and "Household furniture & wearing Apparil" �37, 1s., 3d., "in Lawfull money of this State". On 2 December, 1782, "Ebenezer Tomson Esqr Excor" made oath to the inventory.
