John Johnson of Haverhill, blacksmith, made his Will "Aged and Infirm" 1 Aug. 1723, proved 24 Mar. 1724. He mentions his well beloved wife Mary; sons John, Thomas, Nathaniel, Timothy, William, Samuel; grandson John Chase, son of daughter Lydia Chase deceased; daughters, Mary Hassaltine, Sarah Duston, Elizabeth, Hannah, Abigail, [evidently unmarried]. Son Timothy Johnson to be executor. LYDIA3 CLEMENTS (Robert2, Robert1), born in Haverhill, Mass., 14 Dec. 1668, died 11 Oct. 1696. She married in Haverhill, 10 Feb. 1688-9, Lieutenant John Johnson, Jr., born in Charlestown, Mass., 3 Aug. 1657, died in Haverhill, 9 Mar. 1723-4, son of John and Elizabeth (Maverick) Johnson. Lydia Clements was the second wife of John Johnson, he having married first, in Haverhill, 8 Sept. 1680, Mary Mousall of Charlestown, who died in Haverhill, 23 May 1688. After Lydia's death, he married thirdly, in Haverhill, 17 May 1697, Mary Johnson, born 4 Jan. 1677, died after Aug. 1723, daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Tenney) Johnson. It is related that Lydia was attacked by the Indians and that while running from them with a child in her arms, she stumbled and fell covering the child, so that the Indians failed to notice it, and after killing her, went on leaving the child alive. Children 1689-96: Lydia, Mary, Nathaniel, Sarah. [ref 88:87]
