15 Jan 1799 at Spithead and ready for sea, with the fleet.

19 Mar 1799 at Spithead.

Circa May 1800 Captain Bover, from the Hecla bomb, is appointed to the Alecto fire ship.

Circa 1 Sep 1800 Capt Lenox Thompson, late of the Alecto (FS) is apptd to the Voltigeur, 14, vice Shortland.

Circa 1 Sep 1800 Lt Edward O'Brien, late 1st of the Melpomene, is promoted Master and Commander and appointed to the Alecto.

20 Oct 1800 re-captured the Brig Padstow, of Padstow.

1 Feb 1801 arrived Spithead from the Needles, where she has been lying with the Otter and Discovery as guard ships.

1 Mar 1801 appointed at Portsmouth, to form a part of the North Sea Fleet, St George, London, 98 ; Bellona, Ganges, Warrior, Ramilies, Russell, Saturn, and Defence, 74 ; Agincourt, 64, Harpy, 18, Alecto, Otter, fire ships ; Discovery, bomb.

2 Mar 1801 departed Spithead with a squadron bound for the Downs, Yarmouth Roads and Copenhagen.

5 Mar 1801 departed the Downs for N. Yarmouth the Ramillies, Saturn, Bellona, Ganges, Alecto, and Discovery.

Circa 12 Mar 1801 fleet under Admiral Sir Hyde Parker and Lord Nelson, consisting of 17 ships of the line, 3 frigates, 10 gun-brigs, nearly as many bomb-ketches, with smaller vessels usually attendant on a fleet, making in the whole nearly 50 sail, got under weigh from Yarmouth Roads at the break of day, and by eight o'clock had cleared the Sands ; they directed their course to the northward, wafted by a fine breeze at S.W. as departed from Yarmouth roads for Copenhagen (Naval Chronicle). On arrival at Copenhagen supported the ships-of-the-line as required.

19 Jul 1801 arrived N. Yarmouth with the Baltic fleet under the command of Adm Graves ; for the make up of the much reduced fleet click on : Defiance, flag ship.

20 Jul 1801 The fleet under the command of R.-Adm. Sir Thomas Graves, which arrived yesterday evening from the Baltic, departed N. Yarmouth today, supposed for a cruise off Holland : for the revised make up of the fleet click on Polyphemus.

23 Jul 1801 arrived N. Yarmouth with Adm Dickson's squadron from a cruise off Goree, and departed for the Downs.

23 Jul 1801 arrived in the Downs from N. Yarmouth.

17 Sep 1801 came into Plymouth Sound, the Alecto, Capt R O'Brien, from Sir E Pellew's squadron, cruising off Rochefort.

22 Sep 1801 went up Plymouth Harbour to refit.

11 Mar 1801 salvage money resulting from the re-capture of the Brig Padstow now due for payment.

1 Dec 1802 notice is given that the Alecto Fire-Ship, Copper-bottomed and Copper-fastened, lying at Plymouth, has been put up for sale.

16 Dec 1802 is reported in the newspapers to have been sold, along with a number of fire ships, gun brigs and smaller vessels in the last 10 days.
