26 Feb 1842, arrived from Barbadoes (1/1), Jamaica (17/1), and St. Thomas's (25/1).

c 21-24 Mar 1842 arrived Plymouth from Falmouth to be paid off.

24 Mar 1842 in Hamoaze.

31 Mar 1842 due to be paid off today at Plymouth.

6 Aug 1842 having recently been replaced by a Royal Mail Steamer and paid off the Admiralty has asked the authorities at Plymouth Dockyard how long it would take to refit and prepare the vessel for commission, with a view to the vessel being used to convey the West India Station mails.

4 Jun 1844 detained in Lat. 4� 55' S Long. 11� 55' W., a Portuguese slave brig Name Unknown, which was sent for adjudication to the British and Portuguese Court of Mixed Commission, St. Paul de Loanda where the vessel was condemned on 5 Jul 1844.

23 May 1845 detained in Lat. 5� 50' S Long. 11� 30' E., off Molembo, the Brazilian slaver Triumfo de Inveja, Lorenco Joz� d'Azevedo, master, which was sent for adjudication to British and Brazilian Court of Mixed Commission at Sierra Leone, where the vessel was sentenced to be condemned on 18 Jun 1845.

13 Aug 1845 detained off Loango, bound from Campos in Brazil to Cape Verds, the Brazilian brig Adelaide, Joze Ferreira Marques de Lima, supposed master, being fully fitted out for the slave trade. Subsequently paid to the officers and crew �15 17s. 2d. for expenses having been given up by the Captor's Agent there being no Court in the colony (Sierra Leone) competent to take the case.

24 Sep 1845 the Alert, in sight of the Cygnet, chased and detained, in the River Congo, the slave ship Rosa, late Calhoun, Pedro Poger, master, which was sent for adjudication to the Vice-Admiralty Court at St. Helena and sentenced on 2 Dec 1845 to be condemned.

27 Sep 1845 ship's boats boarded the Lady Sale up the River Congo.

3 Oct 1845 whilst of Black Point the ship's boats observed a suspicious schooner and gave chase and after a few hours came up to her and fired a gun, bringing her to and was able to inspect the unknown vessel, supposed Voadora, off Loango, but was unsure as to whether she should be sent to Brazil as a pirate or to Sierra Leone as a slaver returned to the Alert to consult with the various rules, regulations and Acts of Parliament, and on returning discovered that she had destroyed her Brazilian papers, claiming that they were false, as a result of which she was sent to the Vice-Admiralty Court, at Sierra Leone for adjudication, the result being heard on 27 Nov 1845, when the vessel was condemned.

15 Nov 45 detained off the River Gaboon, en route from Bahia, the Brazilian slaver Boa Sorte, Paul Joz� Antonio, master, which was sent for adjudication to the Vice-Admiralty Court at Sierra Leone and sentenced to be condemned on 5 Jan 1846. Proceeds of Hull, &c., and Tonnage Bounty. Prize money due to be paid 24 March 1849.

15 Jan 1846 detained a Brazilian slaver, Name unknown, which was sent for adjudication to the Vice-Admiralty Court at St. Helena and sentenced to be condemned.

21 Jan 1846 detained in lat. 4� 10' S. long. 11� 10' E., off the River Kilongo, the Brazilian slave brigantine Emprehendedora, Francisco Rodrigues da Silva, master, which was sent for adjudication to the Vice-Admiralty Court at St. Helena and on 11 May 1946 sentenced to be restored to her master.

Early 1846 captured a Brazilian slaver with 70-80 slaves off Cabinda. Whilst taking the prize to Sierra Leone, for adjudication, the vessel was driven by bad weather to Maranhao, where she arrived with seven feet of water in the hold. 25 Sep 1848 captured the slaver Laurence on the Coast of Africa.

13 Oct 1851 proceeds of hull etc. of the Laurence due to be paid.
