Latter half of 1874, operations up the River Congo.

1 Jul 1876 blockading Whydah, the port of Dahomey.

27 Jul 1876, Active arrived off the mouth of the Niger : landing party, with guns and rockets, transferred to the gunboats Cygnet and Ariel, who proceeded up the river to Akado, with the local steamer Sultan of Sokato, to take punitive action against the local natives for attacking an English steamer.

1877 Coastguard service.

1879 Tender to Endymion, Hull

12 Aug 1885 Has been refitted at Millwall

Sheerness 13 Aug 1885 departed for Hull with stores.

14 Aug 1885 Is to be tender to the Rupert, which is to relieve the Repulse as coastguard ship for the Humber district.
