17 Mar 1794 at Martinique the French 28-gun frigate Bienvenue at Fort-Royal, was taken into the RN as the Undaunted, and an 18-gun corvette at St.-Pierre, probably the Vengeur / L'Avengeur, was also taken into the service as the Avenger.

17 Mar 1794 the Avenger, Captain James Milne, appears to have been used for subsequent operations in the area. Seamen from many of the ships played an important role in moving heavy guns over difficult terrain and in the various assaults required to subdue the Island. Elements from the fleet then went on to take Sainte-Lucie, Guadeloupe, and other islands, in subsequent months.
