Circa 17 Sep 1803 Capt Snell, apptd to the Avenger.

12 Nov 1803 the Dart, Inspector, Avenger, Orestes, Zephyr, and Abundance store ship, have now dropped down from Deptford and Woolwich to Long Reach, in the Medway, to take in their guns and powder, and wait only a fair wind to proceed to the Nore.

25 Nov 1803 dropped down to Sheerness from Long Reach and from thence to the Nore to complete her complement.

28 Nov 1803 departed Sheerness.

18 Jan 1804 Captain Snell, his officers and ship's company were tried at Sheerness for the loss of the Avenger, off the Weser, when they were all acquitted, except the pilot who was reprimanded for ignorance.

Circa 25 Aug 1804 the Avenger, Capt T White, at Spithead, has hoisted a signal for the next Newfoundland and Halifax convoy.

11 Dec 1804 arrived Spithead from Newfoundland convoy duties, as far as the Western Isles, ie Madeira &c., in those days, and thus picking up the trade winds.
