5 Dec 1798, cruising with the Badger cutter on the morning fell in with and captured between Folkstone and Dungenness a French lugger privateer of four carriage guns, and manned with 18 men, called the Calaisen, Citoyen Jaques Guillaume Lamey, commander, of and from Calais, out 18 hours, and had captured nothing, quite new, being her first cruize. I have put in at Ramsgate with the prize, owing to its blowing very strong from the southward, and as soon as it moderates I shall proceed to Dover with her. Thos. R. Ridge. 13 Aug-Oct 1799 employed on expedition to Holland.

28 Aug 1799 capture of the Dutch hulks Drotchterland and Brooderschap, and the ships Helder, Venus, Minerva, and Hector, in the New Diep, in Holland.

24 Feb 1802 prize money resulting from the capture of the Dutch hulks Drotchterland and Brooderschap, and the ships Helder, Venus, Minerva, and Hector due to be paid.

17 Nov-30 Dec 1802 prize money resulting from the expedition to Holland due for payment.

10 Jun 1803 the excise cutter Badger has sent into N Yarmouth the De Jonge Classina, Linder ; and De Vrow Nelka, Viser, with salt fish.

11 Jun 1803 the excise cutters Badger and Ranger has sent into N Yarmouth 2 Dutch fishing doggers.

7 Jul 1803 remains in N Yarmouth Roads.

8 Jul 1803 departed N Yarmouth, on a cruise.

17 Aug 1803 remains at N Yarmouth, the cutter Badger.

11 Dec 1803 M. Gunthorpe, captain of the Badger, wrote that at 11.00 hours this morning, after a chase of 3 hours captured the French privateer cutter Vigilant, 50 tons, 35 men, only armed with a swivel and small arms, presumably in the North Sea, where she was based.

13 Dec 1803 the Badger arrived N Yarmouth with a number of French prisoners, who are expected to be landed in the afternoon.

13 Dec 1803 arrived N Yarmouth with her prize, the privateer Vigilant.

1805 North Foreland, northwards. A vessel of Port of Yarmouth. 107 tons, 19 men

16 Apr 1806 the Orpheus, the Badger Revenue cutter in company, captured the Prussian ships Vrou Fingina and Vyf Gesusters.

Harwich 31 Dec 1806 departed

Circa 31 Dec 1814 armed with 10 guns as an Excise cruiser under the command of W. Ogle Carr, based on the Sheerness Station, and responsible to the English Board.

24 Sep 1819 seized the boat Huron.

14 Dec 1819 seized 25 lbs. of tobacco.

25 Sep 1822 the proceeds due following the events of 24 Sep and 14 Dec 1819 due for payment.

Dover 14 Jan 1823 has sent in the Three Brothers, smuggling vessel, following a running action of 6 and a half hours. The smuggler, en route from Flushing for the Faro Isles, was said to be carrying contraband to the value of �10,000, and suffered 8 men dead or wounded, whilst the Badger suffered one man killed and four men wounded.

8 Feb 1823 the crew of 21 men from the above mentioned smuggling vessel appeared at Bow Street magistrates court.

1 Jan 1825 Lt Nezer(?), arrived Falmouth from a cruise.

4 Jan 1825 departed Falmouth on a cruise.

30 Jan 1825 arrived Falmouth from a cruise.

5 Feb 1825 departed Falmouth on a cruise.

2 Mar 1825 arrived Falmouth from a cruise.

8 Mar 1825 departed Falmouth on a cruise.

Navy List for 1830 Revenue Vessel

25 Jan 1833 has detained and sent in the Atlas, Dutch brig, from Cuba, laden with sugar &c., and sent her into Cowes.

29 Jan 1833, chased another Dutch ship, but could not get up with her, and despite firing blanks and ball she got away out of the Channel, and had to give up the chase.

Harwich 12 Nov 1837 is reported to have towed the Fort Augustus here, after she lost her top-masts in a squall off Lowestoff yesterday.

17 Mar 1838 Lt. R. Percival apptd. to the Badger. Nov 1841 based at N. Yarmouth. Mate noted as J.C. Hughes.

1 Aug 1842 building.
