9 Oct 1797 Showed herself at the back of Yarmouth sands, with a signal flying for an enemy - thus the forthcoming battle of Camperdown was announced.

1 Jan 1799 CO : Lt J Nicolson ; stationed : North Sea (N.C.).

9 Mar 1799 Plymouth, arrived from the Downs.

27 Apr 1799 captured, the French chasse-mar�e Rebecca, of four swivels and seven men.

30 Apr 1799 joined the fleet off Cape Clear.

8 May 1799 Plymouth. arrived the Black Joke lugger, with a chasse maree advice boat, with dispatches for the French fleet, which were saved and sent on to Lord Bridport, but it is feared it is a decoy to deceive his Lordship with respect to the real destination of the French fleet.

26 Jun 1799 Plymouth arrived the Speedwell and Black Joke luggers from a cruise.

5 Jul 1799 Plymouth departed the Black Joke lugger, Lt. Nicholson, with dispatches for Vice Admiral Pole, off Rochefort.

8 Sep 1799 Plymouth arrived the Black Joke lugger from Lord Bridport's fleet, which she left all well off Brest on the 6th. The Boadicea and Amelia frigates fell in with a convoy of 18 sail from Rochfort, for Brest, near the Passage du Raz, all of which they burnt and destroyed, except a brig of 6 guns, which was brought off.
