1837 Commander Andrew Drew was appointed commodore of the provincial marine, having cut out the American steamer Carolina, which was proving useful to the rebels, and sent her in flames over the great Falls : he flew his broad pennant in the hired armed steamer Colborne, which he commanded on Lake Erie from October, 1838, till August, 1839.
