Notes:

1870 Portsmouth, building, to a design by the Department of the Controller of the Navy, Rear-Admiral Sir Robert Spencer Robinson. Were supposed/budgetted to cost cost 7,500 each, but the average cost turned out at 13,000.

11 Mar 1871 carried out satisfactory trials off Spithead ; speed 8.734 knots.

15 Mar 1871 continued her trials in Stokes Bay.
