The following appeared in the London Gazette :
Whitehall, October 5, 1791.
Whereas it has been represented to the Commissioners of HM Customs, That on Tuesday the 16 August last, the Dolphin Revenue Cutter, Richard John Commander, stationed at the Port cf St. Ive's, fell in with a large armed Smuggling Lugger near Padstow, in the County cf Cornwall, when the Smugglers feloniously fired a Shot at the, Dolphin, brought her to, and immediately ordered Mr. Ormond, the Mate of the Cutter, on Board, who found her navigated with about Fifty Men, all armed ready for Action, having Eight Six-Pounders mounted, with as many more in the Hold, and pierced for Eighteen Guns.

Circa May 1793 captured the French privateer Supreme.

1 Jun 1797 captured a French privateer, Name unknown, near Mount's Bay.
The following appeared in the London Gazette :
Extract of a Letter from Mr. John Stevens, Collector of HM Customs at St. Ive's, to James Hume, Esq; Secretary to the Board of Customs in London, dated June 2, 1797.
By a Letter which I received from Captain Richard John, of the Dolphin Revenue Cruizer, stationed at this Port, (Yesterday Morning) he informed me of his having captured a French Lugger Privateer from Brest, and put her into Mount's Bay ; she mounted Two Carriage Guns, and Eight Swivels, with Musquets, Pikes, Pole-Axes, &c. in Proportion, manned with Thirty-six Men, and officered from the Brest Fleet; her Name Captain John has omitted to send me.

19 Jul 1797 captured the French privateer Papillon in the Channel.
The following appeared in the London Gazette :
Copy of a Letter from Mr. Richard Johns, jun., commanding the Dolphin Revenue Cutter, to Mr. Nepean, dated Marazion, July 20, 1797.
Sir, I Have the Pleasure to inform you, that from Information I received Yesterday Morning from the Captain of a Sloop, of his being chaced in here by a French Privateer, I immediately slipped my Cable and went in Pursuit of her, and in the Course of Six Hours came up with and captured the Privateer La Papillon, Captain Thomas Franerie, Lieutenant de Vaisseau, mounting 4 Swivels and Plenty of Small Arms, with 30 Men, out Four Days from Brest ; had recaptured, the Evening before, the St. Anne Chasse Maree, with Wine from Nantz, bound to Brest, John Acalrê, Master ; which Chasse-Maree was first captured by the Squadron under the Command of Sir John Borlase Warren. I have the Honor to be, &c. &c. (Signed) Rich. Johns, jun.

26 May 1800 Portsmouth, departed the following revenue cutters on a secret service, viz. Repulse, Captain Mannings ; Greyhound, Captain Wilkinson ; Swan, Captain Ferris ; Rose, Captain Yeats ; Falcon, Chief Mate Warton ; Dolphin, Captain Johns ; and Swallow, Captain Amos."

Dover 13 Sep 1801 arrived from off the coast of France where she'd been serving with the Boulogne squadron.

7 Oct 1801 arrived this afternoon, the Dolphin, Capt John, in the Downs, from the squadron off Boulogne, with dispatches, but no other particulars.

15 Oct 1801 following the signing of the Peace of Amiens has been discharged from RN service and has departed the Downs for her former station, presumably Cornwall, judging by the above.

18 Feb 1803 departed Falmouth, Capt Johns, on a cruise.

25 Feb 1803 departed Plymouth Sound, the Dolphin, Revenue Cutter, Capt Johns, on a cruize.

2 Jun 1803 arrived Plymouth the Dolphin from a cruise, having detained the Swedish ship Naturalisation.

14 Jul 1803 arrived Plymouth the Dutch ship Anna Louisa, from Demerara, with cotton and sugar, sent in as a prize by the Dolphin, last from Penzance.
