15 Jan 1799 Portsmouth, at Spithead and ready for sea, with the fleet.

19 Mar 1799 at Spithead.

27 Jun 1799 Plymouth, Royal George departed with the Sulphur, Volcano, and Explosion, bomb ketches, with some artillery men on board, to bombard the Spanish fleet near the Isle of Aix.

1 Jul 1799 arrived off Basque road from Cawsand bay.

12 Jul 1799 Plymouth, arrived from off the Isle of Aix the Mars, Ramilies, Ajax ; also the Volcano, Explosion, and Sulphur, gun and bomb vessels, with the Speedwell and Bilboa tenders, from the Isle of Aix.

14 Jul 1799 Plymouth, departed the Sulphur and Explosion bombs to the eastward.

Circa Jan 1801 Captain Martin, late of the Xenophon, is appointed to command the Explosion bomb-vessel ; and the Xenophon is ordered to be fitted for the reception of astronomers and scientific men, and is going, it is said, on a voyage of discovery.

10 Mar 1801 the North Sea Fleet has come together at N. Yarmouth, and consists of the London, and St George, 98 guns, Adm. Sir Hyde Parker having transferred his flag from the Ardent to the St George ; Monarch, Bellona, Saturn, Ramilies, Ganges, Warrior, Russell and Defence, 74 ; Veteran, Ardent, Polyphemus, Raisonable, Agamemnon, 64 ; Glatton, 54 ; Isis, 50 ; Desiree, Blanche, and Amazon frigates ; Pylades, Hyaena, Dart, and Arrow, sloops ; Harpy ; Biter, Blazer, Bruiser, Tigress, Pelter, Teazer, Hasty, Force, Sparkler Brigs ; Terror, Volcano, Explosion, Hecla, Zebra, Albion, Sulphur, and Discovery bombs ; Eling, schooner ; cutters Fox and Hazard ; and luggers Rover and Lark.

Circa 12 Mar 1801 fleet under Admiral Sir Hyde Parker departed from Yarmouth roads for Copenhagen. 30 Mar the vessels initially detailed to take part in the forthcoming Battle of Copenhagen. 1 Apr the vessels detailed sail for Copenhagen ; the British ships held in reserve ; the Danish positions : 2 Apr the battle commences : the truce : the casualties : the wash-up :

12 Apr 1801 the fleet departed from Copenhagen into the Baltic.

18 Jun 1801 a letter of this date, received from Kioge Bay, in the Baltic, reports the presence of the following fleet, this at about the same time as Lord Nelson departed in the Kite for N. Yarmouth, V.-Adm Pole having arrived here in the Aeolus to relieve Nelson : the St George, Elephant, Defiance, Polyphemus, Edgar, Agamemnon, Defence, Adder, Aeolus, Kite, Dart, Zebra, Terror, Explosion, Sulphur, Discovery, Volcano, Hecla, Wrangler, Cracker, Safeguard, Sparkler, Attack, Tigress, Bruiser, Hasty, Biter, Otter, Force, Pleaser, Teazer.

19 Jul 1801 arrived N. Yarmouth with the Baltic fleet under the command of Adm Graves ; for the make up of the much reduced fleet click on : Defiance, flag ship.

20 Jul 1801 The fleet under the command of R.-Adm. Sir Thomas Graves, which arrived yesterday evening from the Baltic, departed N. Yarmouth today, supposed for a cruise off Holland : for the revised make up of the fleet click on Polyphemus.

29 Jul 1801 departed the Downs, for Sheerness.

13 Aug 1801 arrived in the Downs from Sheerness.

15-16 Aug 1801 with others the ships boats were involved in an unsuccessful cutting out operation at Boulogne, 1 seaman being killed and 2 wounded. Mr. Richard Wilkinson, Commander of the Greyhound Revenue Cutter being wounded.

18 Oct 1801 arrived in the Downs from Dungeness, a strong westerly gale blowing at the present time.

20 Jul 1802 head money for those present at the Engagement at Copenhagen, on the 2d April 1801, due for payment.

Circa 27 Jun 1803 Capt R. Paul, apptd to the Explosion.

8 Aug 1803 arrived at the Nore.

2 Sep 1803 departed the Downs for Sheerness.

8 Sep 1803 the Explosion, Capt Paul, arrived Sheerness, but then departed again.

9 Sep 1803 arrived in the Downs from Sheerness.

14 Sep 1803 bombardment of Dieppe and St.-Valery en Caux, on the French coast.

21 Sep 1803 arrived in the Downs the Immortalite, Autumn, and Amaranthe ; Fury and Explosion, bombs ; Mariner, Conflict, and Jackall, gun brigs ; and Millbrook schooner, from the French coast.

3 Oct 1803 arrived Sheerness the Sulphur, Terror, Explosion, and Perseus, with their tenders.

9 Oct 1803 arrived in the Downs from Sheerness.

12 Oct 1803 departed the Downs on a cruise.

26 Oct 1803 arrived in the Downs from the Eastward and departed for Margate.

12 Dec 1803 arrived Sheerness.

Circa 28 Jul 1804 the Pluto, Capt Janverin, brings an account of a more serious attack being made by Capt Oliver, of the Melpomene, and the Havre squadron, on the gun boats of that port, than any yet effected. The Squadron has been strengthened by the Trusty, Magnanime, Locust, Gun vessels, and Explosion, Zebra and Hecla, bombs.

4 Aug 1804 arrived Spithead, the Explosion, from off Havre, for ammunition.

Circa 11 Aug 1804 Capt Paul of the Explosion, apptd to the Pheasant, vice Carew, indisposed.

Circa 11 Aug 1804 Capt Prevost apptd to the Explosion.

22 Sep 1804 departed Portsmouth harbour for Spithead.

25 Sep 1804 departed Spithead, the Explosion, Capt Prevost, for off Havre.
