29 Mar 1840 is ordered to be completely fitted out.

10 Jul 1840 departed from Portsmouth for Pembroke with officers and men to take the Iris to Chatham.

29 Jul 1840 arrived at Woolwich from Pembroke.

7 Aug 1840 left Woolwich on Tuesday for Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Whitby, and other adjacent ports, to bring round shipwrights for HM dockyards.

20 Aug 1840 arrived Portsmouth from Woolwich with artillery personnel for Gibraltar who have been transferred to the Apollo to take to Plymouth.

21 Aug 1840 returned from Portsmouth to Chatham with military invalids.

11 Sep 1840 arrived Woolwich on Tuesday, having accompanied the Cygnet to Portsmouth, and taken round a party of Royal Marines from Chatham far embarkation in the Stromboli steam-frigate.

18 Sep 1840 left Woolwich on Friday for Cork to take shipwrights to Pembroke, Chatham, and Sheerness dockyards.

9 Oct 1840 arrived Woolwich from Pembroke on Thursday.

14 Oct 1840 left Woolwich with a schooner in tow, loaded with ordnance stores for the Howe.

25 Oct 1840 arrived et Woolwich having been towing Ordnance vessels laden with stores to the Downs, as, when once clear of the river, they have less difficulty in reaching their destinations when a speedy voyage it desirable.

28 Oct 1840 arrived from Chatham.

6 Nov 1840 left Woolwich on Wednesday, for Liverpool, to bring round shipwrights for HM dockyards, a number of hands being required to finish the various vessels in progress with the least possible delay.

11 Dec 1840 returned to Woolwich on Monday.

15 Jan 1841 departed Spithead for Woolwich, with the Driver in tow, but put back in the evening due to bad weather.

19 Jan 1841 Woolwich, arrived from Portsmouth with the Driver in tow and took her to Messrs. Seaward and Co., at Limehouse, to be fitted with her engines.

29 Jan 1841 arrived Portsmouth from Woolwich, with the officers and men who took round the Driver steam vessel.

4 Feb 1841 returned to Woolwich from Portsmouth to Woolwich.

13 Feb 1841 Woolwich, left for Chatham, with the officers and men who brought round the Ardent, and returned on Monday.

10 Mar 1841 Woolwich, was commissioned by Captain Fay

18 Jul 1841 left Woolwich for Harwich, to resume the survey of the North Sea.

22 Aug 1841 arrived at Woolwich and left on the 23rd for the Tower.

12 Sep 1841 left Woolwich for the Downs.

15 Sep 1841 Deal, the Fearless and Shearwater were involved in the preparations for the building of a lighthouse on the Goodwin Sands. The Fearless got aground, but got off without damage.

7 Nov 1841 arrived at Woolwich, being in want of repairs to her engines and boilers.

20 Nov 1841 has been taken into the basin at Woolwich to lay up for the winter.

25 Apr 1842 departed Woolwich for the North Sea to resume her Survey at the mouth of the River Thames.

11 Jun 1842 reported to still be in the Downs with the Lightning and Monkey placing Mr. Bush's cassoon, but the NE winds prevent it.

24 Aug 1842 will shortly depart to the Nore to join the Queen's escort of the Royal George en route to Granton, Nr. Leith, Scotland.

10 Dec 1842 is reported to have returned to Woolwich from the Downs, leaving the Echo there.

17 Dec 1842 it is reported that she will be paid off on 31st.
