6 Sep 1803 arrived Plymouth, the Fox, Lieut Nicholson, from off Cadiz, with dispatches from R.-Adm Campbell's squadron. The ship's companies of the vessels lying off Cadiz are quoted as saying that they fancy a lick at the Spanish galleons.

21 Nov 1803 departed the fleet off Brest, the Fox, Lieut Nicholson.

30 Nov 1803 arrived Plymouth this evening from off Brest and reports that at one stage during the recent gale she was struck on the weather quarter, which was stove in and for some minutes so enveloped in the trough of a sea, that all on board gave her up as lost, but being a good sea boat, she at length righted, but still laboured much, but a small raft was rigged on the weather quarter, which gave her headway, and enabled her to arrive safe in port. She has now been brought into harbour and taken up on the slip to have her damage made good and to be re-coppered.
