Fox, 1803
Type: Revenue lugger ; Armament 10 ?
Notes:

17 Sep 1803 about 9 O'clock off Portland, Capt Harris, of the Fox Revenue lugger, of Cowes, fell in with upwards of 20 sail of smugglers, all laden from Guernsey, and Alderney, with contraband goods, 2 of which he captured, viz. the Lyon of Southampton, James Perrin, master ; and the Trial of Cowes, John Smith, master, both having on board 460 casks of spirits ; but unfortunately, in the dark of the night, a fine young man was lost overboard. Smuggling, though attended with so much risk on account of the Admiralty cruisers, who impress generally all hands, never was carried on with more success or greater effrontery, which is attributed to the regular revenue cruisers being now employed by the Admiralty.

15 Feb 1804 118 casks of spirits were picked up off Weymouth by the Fox Revenue lugger, and deposited today at the Custom's House at Cowes, IoW.

29 Feb 1804 the Fox Revenue lugger sent to Spithead the Enterprize sloop, of Weymouth, 70 tons, with 32 casks of spirits and 11 casks of tobacco, which she fell in with off Wick.

30 Mar 1804 eighty six x six gallon casks of spirits were carried into the Custom's House at Cowes, by the Fox lugger, Capt Harris.

21 Aug 1804 the Fox lugger, sent into the Customs Warehouse at Cowes 68 casks of spirits seized at Sheepwash, Isle of Purbeck, the night before.
