Apr 1886 under orders for the West Coast of Africa.

1888 Drillship for Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers.

1890 Drill ship for RNA volunteers, Thames, off Somerset House.

Jul 1892 following the closure of RNA volunteer service the Frolic is to be towed to Sheerness, and, after discharging her stores, it is proposed to refit her Coastguard watch vessel for service on the Roach River, near Burnham.

1893 Frolic renamed Coastguard Watch Vessel 30.

1897 Renamed Coastguard Watch Vessel 41
