9-12 Sep 1799 following receipt of intelligence the Arrow, in company with the Wolverine, sought out, destroyed the sheer-hulk Draak and captured the brig Gier, which was purchased into the service.

24 Jan 1801 remains in the Downs.

26 Jan 1801 departed the Downs, with the Eugenie, on a cruise, and returned to the Downs later in the day.

27 Jan 1801 departed the Downs with the Gier, Arrow and Eugenie on a cruise.

20 Feb 1801 arrived the Downs, the Savage, Eugenie, and Gier, sloops, from a cruise.

27 Feb 1801 remains in the Downs.

13 Mar 1801 the Gier remains in the Downs, bringing together the next outward bound convoy with the Savage and Racoon.

15 Mar 1801 departed the Downs for Sheerness.

14 Jun 1801 arrived the Downs from a cruise, having thrown her guns overboard in the recent gales.

17 Jun 1801 departed the Downs for Sheerness with French prisoners.

19 Jun 1801 arrived Sheerness the brig Gier, Capt Russell, from the Downs to refit : she had been ordered to prevent enemy gun-boats passing along the shore from Flushing to Dunkirk, and was caught close in shore when the recent northerly gales blew in and was obliged to throw all her guns overboard in order to clear the Banks of Flanders.

21 Jun 1801 arrived in the Downs from Sheerness.

23 Jun 1801 departed the Downs on a cruise.

9 Sep 1801 the Overyssel, Magicienne, Amazon, Leyden, Alkmaar, York, Isis, Shannon, Gannet, Hound, Gier, and Autumn sloops ; Volcano, Vesuvius, Terror, Discovery, Zebra bombs ; Victoire, Nancy & Akers, fire ships ; the Locust, Plumper, Bold, Eclipse, Ferriter, Snipe, Minx, Jackall, and Mallard, gun vessels, apart from seven gun brigs who were about to depart that evening with the Eugenie and Diligence for the Coast of France ; remained in the Downs overnight.

13 Oct 1801 returned to Walmer Roads with Captain Russel's division from off Calais, blowing hard.

18 Nov 1801 arrived Sheerness, the Gier, Captain Russell, from the Downs.

30 Nov 1801 remains with the Zealand and some 20 other vessels at the Nore.
