25 Mar 1803 late Dutch frigate Ambuscade entered service with the RN and renamed Helder.

20 Jun 1803 according to the newspapers, following approaches by the merchants and ship owners at Hull that the port warranted some protection, the Helder was allocated to the Whitebooth Roads, in River Humber, as a Floating Battery.
