January 1855 ordered to be built at Pembroke. In December 1857, being at that time only in frame, it was decided to lengthen her 15 feet by the bow. The cost of this alteration is said to be 384 5s. 3d., however following the Commissioners inspection of the dockyards published in 1861 it was implied that little credibility could be attributed to any accounts that were produced by the dockyards. That said it is interesting to note that the Naval accounts for 1861-62, produced for the new Accountant General of the Navy, R. M. Bromley, Esq., do start to look good, and even include double entry book keeping.
