17 Feb 1913 Flag Ship, Cape of Good Hope; completed to full crew at Portsmouth.

27 Jul 1914 departed Port Louis, Mauritius for Zanzibar - see p. 637-> www.naval-review.org/issues/1915-4.pdf for details of the doings of the Cape of Good Hope Squadron from Aug 1914 - Jan 1915.

29 Jul 1914 called in at Diego Suarez.

1 Aug 1914 coaled at Zanzibar and then left for the Cape.

7 Aug 1914 arrived at Durban and after coaling departed for the south the following morning ; patrolling off Cape Point ; docked.

26 Aug 1914 left Simon's Bay for Table Bay.

27 Aug 1914 picked up convoy for St. Helena and departed north until relieved by the Europa on 11 Sep.

11 Sep 1914 proceeded to St. Vincent to coal. Spent the 13th coaling in a "neutral port," the ship being surrounded with merchantmen flying German ensigns. Left for Sierra Leone to pick up a prize crew belonging to the Kinfauns Castle, coaled, and departed the same evening for St. Helena; on our arrival there we heard the sad news that our station mate the Pegasus had been destroyed by the Konigsberg at Zanzibar on the 20th.

Course was next shaped for Walfisch Bay, but later changed to Luderitzbucht, where we arrived on 1 Oct.

6 Oct 1914 departed for Cape Point to resume patrol duties.

7 Dec 1914 proceeded from Simonstown with the Minotaur (now flying flag of C-in-C Cape Station), Albion, Weymouth and Astraea to Table Bay and from thence to Luderitz Bay - see p. 608 www.naval-review.org/issues/1915-4.pdf.

12 Dec 1914 left for Cape Town.

21 Dec 1914 left Simon's Bay with the Astraea for Table Bay where another convoy containing Union troops was collected and taken to Walfisch Bay, arriving Christmas Day, the landing commencing forthwith.

29 Dec 1914 arrived back at Simon's Bay.

27 Jun 1915 off the mouth of the Rufiji - p. 682 www.naval-review.org/issues/1915-4.pdf.

Late Jul 1915 sent to Simonstown for a month's refit - the C.-in-C's flag being temporarily transferred to the Challenger.
