Notes:

Circa 31 Mar 1804 as appeared in the Hampshire Telegraph the following vessel was to be hired into the Service to be employed in the North Sea and Channel, to protect convoys, the hired armed ship John, Commander F Douglas.

Circa 27 Oct 1804 Capt P Parker is apptd to the John, armed ship.

May 1805 North Sea, per Steel.

The following don't appear to be the same vessel, but have included them here for convenience :

10 Jan 1810 departed the Downs.

7 Jan 1812 whilst cruizing off Plymouth discovered Les Deux Freres, from L'Orient, recently taken by the Pelorus, and brought her into port.

NB The first of these appears to be the ship hired 1804-5 : the latter events give indications that the vessels may be hired, but I can find no references to them, as such.
