May 1803 Lieut Gibbon apptd to the armed cutter Joseph.

14 Aug 1803 arrived Falmouth with stores for the Gannet, but the Gannet having departed Falmouth on a cruise, the Joseph returned to Plymouth.

8 Sep 1803 captured the French privateer Espoir on the Home station.

30 Sep 1803 departed Falmouth on a cruise.

3 Oct 1803 arrived Plymouth with the French brig privateer Esperance, of St Maloes, 4 guns and 30 men, prize to the Joseph, and Maria privateer, of Guernsey. She had taken the Three Friends of London, Capt James, from Mogadore, for London, which had been retaken by the Maria.

10 Oct 1803 the French privateer L'Espoir, 8 guns, and 55 men, prize to the privateer Maria and Joseph, has been taken from the Sound, up Catwater, among the tier of prizes moored to Turn Chapel Rock.
