May 1797 Nautilus and others captured the French privateer Adolph.
The following appeared in the London Gazette :
Extract of a Letter from Captain Gunter, Commander of His Majesty's Sloop Nautilus, to Evan Nepean, Esq; dated at Sea, 24 May 1797.
I Beg you will be pleased to inform the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty of the Capture of the Adolphe French Lugger Privateer, after being chaced Four Hours by His Majesty's Sloops Nautilus and Sea-Gull, and previously started from under the Land, and chaced by His Majesty's Hired Cutter the King George. She had been out Nine Days from Boulogne ; she is quite new, had taken nothing, this being her first Cruize, pierced for Twelve Guns, Part of which she threw overboard in the Chace, had only Five on Board when taken, and Eight Swivels, with Thirty-five Men.

23 Jul 1797 King George and Seagull captured the French privateer Captain Thurot near Christiansand.

Copy of a Letter from Captain Henry Wray, Commander of HM Sloop Seagull, to Evan Nepean, Esq., dated July 23, 1797, at Sea.
Sir, you will be pleased to inform their Lordships, that after a Chace of Three Hours, Christiansand bearing N. by W. Ten or Eleven Leagues, the King George Cutter in Company, I captured the Captain Thurot, a small French Cutter Privateer, carrying 2 Brass Six-Pounders, 4 Swivels, and 22 Men. She had taken on this Coast the Ship Tom, of Liverpool, from Riga, with Timber, and the Brig Bachelor, of Saltcoats in Scotland. I have the Honor to be, &c. Henry Wray.

3 Oct 1797 arrived Yarmouth from off the Texel to victual and store etc.

9 Oct 1797 departed from Yarmouth for the Texel. 11 Oct 1797 engaged the Dutch fleet in what was to be known as the Battle of Camperdown (Admiral Duncan).

21 Feb 1798 prize money resulting from the sale of Dutch ships captured on the 11 Oct 1797 due for payment.

1 Jan 1799 CO : Lt James Rains ; stationed : North Sea (N.C.).
