24 May 1798 departed from off Cadiz with a squadron of 10 ships of the line to join Nelson's squadron in the Mediterranean, arriving 7 Jun.

7 Jun 1798 the search for the French fleet.

1 Aug 1798 the preparation for the Battle of the Nile.

1 Aug 1798 Battle of the Nile.

5 Aug 1798 departed for off Cadiz with despatches.

18 Aug 1798 captured by the French 74-gun ship G�n�reux.

17 Dec 1798 court-martial of Captain Thompson, officers and men following the capture of the Leander.

3 Mar 1799 captured by the Russians and Turks, on the surrender of Corfu, and returned to the British.

18 Apr 1802 is ordered to be prepared to take Adm. Sir A. Mitchell to Halifax, where he's been appointed as CinC.

Circa 24 Apr 1802 Captain Oughton apptd to the Leander, the flag ship of Sir A. Mitchell.

Circa 24 Apr 1802 repairing at Woolwich, is ordered to be fitted up for the Admiral's flag.

14 Jun 1802 arrived Sheerness, the Leander, Capt Houghton, from the Thames.

17 Jun 1802 departed Sheerness, and later in the day passed through the Downs for Spithead.

18 Jun 1802 arrived Spithead the Leander, 50, Captain Oughton, from Deptford. She will sail in a few days for Halifax, to receive the flag of Vice-Admiral Sir Andrew Mitchell.

12 Jul 1802 departed Spithead for Halifax to receive the flag of Vice-Admiral Sir A. Mitchell.

9 Sep 1802 the Lord Charles Spencer, packet from Falmouth, arrived at Halifax, where the Leander and Cambrian were at anchor.

1 Dec 1802 following the deaths from fever of 64 persons serving on the Chichester she has now been taken out of quarantine and Capt Spear of the Lilly has been promoted to the Chichester ; Lieut Compton of the Leander has been promoted to Commander, and apptd to the Lilly. Midshipmen Waller, Meath and Lewis of the Leander have been promoted Lieutenants ; and Mr Gibbs surgeon's mate apptd surgeon of the Chichester.

Circa 26 Jul 1803 the Leander, 50, departed Halifax, NS, with the Cambrian, 44 ; Driver, 16 ; and Lilly, 14 ; on a cruise.

Circa 12 Sep 1803 Capt Fare of the Driver, to be Sir A. Mitchell's Captain in the Leander. Lieut Compton, of the Leander, apptd pro tempore to the Driver.

23 Feb 1805 capture of the French 40-gun frigate Ville-de-Milan, and re-capture of the late British frigate Cleopatra.
