Portsmouth 19 Feb 1792 To be fitted out for commission for the East Indies.

Jun-Aug 1798 Lion and Incendiary detached to a Portuguese squadron attempting to link up with the British squadron prior to their attack on the French at the battle of the Nile. The squadron then returned to blockade Malta, leaving the Lion to support the squadron off Alexandria until December, when she departed to join Nelson.

15 Jul 1798 captured the Spanish frigate Santa-Dorotea, one of a squadron of four similar vessels. The Santa-Dorotea was purchased into the service under the same name.

30 May 1799 joined Nelson's squadron off Palermo.

13 Jun-mid Aug 1799 departed from off Palermo for a cruise, arriving Naples 24th, where crews were involved in operations ashore.

Feb 1800 blockade of Malta.

30-31 Mar 1800 capture of the Guillaume-Tell, 80, off Malta.

Circa 24 Mar to 26 Apr 1800 Capt Dickson is removed from the command of the Lion, of 64 guns, to that of the Genereux ; and Lord William Stuart is appointed to succeed him in the Lion.

14 Oct 1800 arrived Spithead with dispatches from the Mediterranean.

23 Oct 1800 departed Spithead for Chatham, to be paid off.

4 May 1801 departed Sheerness, Capt Mitford, for Spithead.

9 May 1801 arrived Spithead from Sheerness, last from the Downs. She is appointed to give instructions to the next convoy for the East Indies.

19 May 1801 departed Spithead with the Hindostan store ship, and the Woodford, Duke of Buccleugh, Warley, Taunton Castle, Albion, Earl of Abergavenny, Alfred, and Belvidere (East Indiamen), under convoy for China. The Hindostan has stores for the Cape.

23 May 1801 put back the ship Port Roseway, of London, Extin, master, sailed with the Lion and her convoy on the 19th inst., but being a heavy sailor lost the convoy and returned to Plymouth.

14 Sep 1801 the Hindustan arrived at the Cape of Good Hope, having parted company with the Lion and their convoy for the East Indies on 2 Sep., all well.

31 Oct 1801 arrived Prince of Wales Island when sailing with a convoy of 8 vessels en route for China, including the Belvidere, Woodford, Warley, Alfred, Earl of Abergavenny, Buccleugh, Albion, Taunton Castle.

2 Apr 1802 departed Macao with a convoy of HEIC vessels.

Circa end of Jun early Jul called at St Helena.

11 Sep 1802 arrived in the Solent with a convoy of HEIC vessels. Put under quarantine at the Motherbank, the Lion, 64, Capt Mitford, from the East Indies, last from St. Helena, in seven weeks.

14 Sep 1802 departed Spithead, this afternoon with the Hind, 28, Capt Larcom, to the eastward, to be paid off.

15 Sep 1802 passed through the Downs for Sheerness.

22 Sep 1802 arrived Sheerness.

28 Sep 1802 departed Sheerness for Chatham to be paid off.

May 1805 Dudman's Yard, Deptford, undergoing repairs.

27 Dec 1807 captured the French privateer Reciprocit� on the Home station.

3 Aug 1811 a part of the fleet involved in the invasion of Java, which terminated with the surrender of Dutch and French forces on 16 Sep.

Deal 20 Mar 1812 departed for Jamaica.
