26 Oct 1839 Portsmouth, The Hercules departed this morning, with the Lucifer steamer in company, to be paid off at Sheerness.

2 Nov 1839 Portsmouth, departed for Woolwich, in charge of an officer and a party of men from the Hercules, but parted from that ship owing to her machinery suddenly becoming defective.

29 Mar 1840 is ordered to be fitted out.

21 Jul 1840 Mr. Julius Dor, second master of the Cuckoo steam-vessel, has been appointed to be acting master of the Lucifer steam vessel, vise Cook, promoted to the Firebrand.

14 Nov 1840 Woolwich The Lizard arrived from the coast of Ireland, and the officers and crew have been turned ever to the Lucifer.

27 Nov 1840 Woolwich, did not leave last Monday, as was anticipated, owing to the state of the weather. and it is expected she will leave on Monday next, and call at Liverpool on her way to the coast of Ireland. Mr. Julius Dor, acting master, in confirmed in his appointment. Master's Assistant Benjamin Woolley, appointed to the Lucifer.

28 Nov 1840 Woolwich, departed to resume the survey on the coast of Ireland and calls at Liverpool on the way.

24 Jul 1841 Masters' Assistant B. Woolley, from the Lucifer appointed to the Dublin.

28 May 1842 the Netley departed Plymouth with provisions for the Spy at Bristol, and the Lucifer at Liverpool.
